Internship in Clinical Optometry

An Internship in Clinical Optometry plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and expertise of aspiring optometrists. The Internship Program Covers the Following Areas

Clinical Refraction

Gain expertise in performing accurate refractive error assessments and prescribing corrective lenses. Develop proficiency in advanced refraction techniques.

Binocular Vision

Learn to diagnose and manage binocular vision anomalies, including strabismus and convergence issues, for enhanced visual comfort.

Contact Lenses

Master the fitting, evaluation, and management of contact lenses for various refractive and therapeutic needs.

Low Vision Aids

Acquire skills in assessing and prescribing low vision aids to improve the quality of life for visually impaired patients.

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Optometry degree.
  • The degree should have been completed within the last two years to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
  • Educational Certificates: Proof of academic qualifications (e.g., Bachelor of Science in Optometry).
  • National Identification (NID): A valid government-issued ID.
  • Photographs: Two recent passport-sized photographs.
  • Monthly Remuneration: Earn a stipend of Tk. 10,000/- (Ten thousand) per month during the internship.
  • Job Opportunity: Potential for employment at Chevron Eye Hospital and Research Center upon successful completion of training.
  • Sponsorship Opportunities: Eligible for sponsorships to pursue further education or advanced training programs.

  • Must have a basic degree in Ophthalmology.
  • Age must be below 45 years.
  • For trainees in Paediatric Glaucoma, Surgical Retina, and Phaco Surgery, completion of Microsurgical Training from a recognized institute is mandatory.
  • Interested candidates without this training may apply for Microsurgical Training first before enrolling in the subspecialty training program.
  • Copies of Educational Certificates.
  • Valid BMDC Registration.
  • National Identity Card (NID).
  • Certificates of Surgical or Clinical Training (if available).
  • No Objection Certificate from the head of the current organization (if employed).

Long-term trainees (6 months or more) will receive a monthly remuneration of Tk. 25,000/-
